School excursions are regularly organised as part of co-curricular activities.

DEBATES:
DSS Debaters are the scourge of the midlands, often winning the debating league despite coming up against schools such as Michaelhouse, Treverton and Weston.
Our top debaters over the past few years have achieved Provincial and National honours.
DRAMA CLUB:
The Drakensberg Secondary Drama club was established on 16 February 2015. The club was started to improve learner self confidence, to promote team work, to foster creative thinkink and to provide learners with an opportunity to express themselves positively.
Learners are currently involved in the following activities:

The forthcoming attraction is a musical production of Rome and Juliet with auditions starting in term 2.

SPORT
Learners at DSS are participate in soccer (boys and girls), netball, volleyball, rugby and cricket at various levels despite limited resources and the lack of proper sports infrastructure. Affiliation with community sporting organisations and sports clubs as well as training with other schools gives our school learners an opportunity to shine on the sports field.
